Ten Years of Arctic Partnership: Arctic Frontiers in Busan

In December, Arctic Frontiers attended the Arctic Partnership Week (APW) in Busan, Republic of Korea. Celebrating its 10th anniversary, the APW reflected on the path forward for a sustainable Arctic.

From Dec 10th to Dec 12th, the 2025 Arctic Partnership Week (APW) was held in Busan, Republic of Korea. Marking the 10th anniversary of the APW, the attendants reflected on ten years of Arctic cooperation and discussed continued cooperation into a sustainable future in the Arctic.

Our Executive Director Anu Fredrikson participated in the APW 10th Anniversary Commemorative Dialogue, alongside participants from the Kingdom of Denmark and the Korea Maritime Institute. It represented an excellent opportunity to discuss what has been done and what the future holds for collaboration across the Arctic.

In her remarks, Fredrikson reflected on the role of the APW and what it should aspire to in the next decade – remain agile and active in a changing geopolitical world, invest in trusted connections across the Arctic, and show continued engagement and relevance in Arctic science and business. She also reflected on where Arctic Frontiers will go in the coming years, as we approach our own 20th anniversary. We will continue to build on our key pillars of engaging scientists, policymakers, businesses and local communities, and facilitate high-quality international collaborations.

Thank you to all who attended, to the Korea Maritime Institute and the Korea Polar Research Institute for co-organizing the APW, and to the ROK Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries and ROK Ministry of Foreign Affairs for hosting. Congratulations to the APW with their 10th anniversary – we look forward to continued collaboration.
